News

The News area helps to communicate with the students registered for the course.  Since news is located on the Course Home it would be a good idea to post the announcements and important course news here.

A few of the main features of News include:

  • Ability to add an attachment to news items such as supplementary material for the course.
  • Display multiple news items ordered by date of posting.
  • Add post dated news and announcement (students will not be able to view announcements until the date you choose).

  • Add News Item
    1. From the Course Home screen, click the button in the upper right of the News section.
    2. Type the appropriate headline in the Headline box.
    3. Check the box next to Show Posted Date Beside Headline if you want date to appear beside the Headline.
    4. Type your message in the text box.
    5. Click the box next to In HTML if you have used the HTML editor to create your message.  If you do not use this option and you have used HTML in your message, the code shown in the text box will be displayed on the Course Home exactly as you see it here.
    6. If you wish to have an attachment with the news posting click the Browse button next to Attach File.  A popup window will appear.  Locate the desired file on your computer and select it.  Now click Open.
    7. Now click the Save button at the bottom of the Add News screen.  See Figure 1.
